3.0 Overview
This section outlines the common failure scenarios that may occur in the unit rack and provides quick diagnostic steps for installers and support teams. These procedures ensure fast recovery and minimal downtime.
3.1 Switch Failure
Symptoms
- No link lights on connected ports
- Devices show Offline in the software
- Entire group of nodes stops responding
- SFP uplink light is off
Immediate Checks
- Verify Power
- Ensure the switch’s power cable is firmly connected to the PDU.
- Check if the switch’s power LED is lit.
- Check PoE Output
- If all PoE ports are dark, the switch may have lost power or failed internally.
- Inspect SFP Uplink
- Confirm the SFP module is seated correctly.
- Ensure the uplink cable is not loose.
- Reboot the Switch
- Power‑cycle the switch using the PDU switch.
If the switch still fails
- Replace the switch with a spare.
- Reconnect patch cords exactly as labeled.
- Commissioning software will automatically detect the replacement.
3.2 Router Failure
Symptoms
- No Wi‑Fi broadcast
- Commissioning dashboard unreachable
- Router LEDs off or blinking abnormally
Immediate Checks
- Verify Power
- Ensure the router is plugged into the PDU.
- Check the router’s power LED.
- Check LAN Cable to Switch
- Ensure that the LAN port is connected to the correct switch port.
- Reboot the Router
- Power‑cycle using the PDU.
If the router still fails
- Replace the router.
- Use the label on the router to restore the same Wi‑Fi name and password.
- Reconnect LAN cables exactly as labeled.
3.3 PoE Lights Off (Node Power Loss)
Symptoms
- Lights connected to PoE nodes turn off
- Devices show Offline in the software
- No PoE LED on switch port
Immediate Checks
- Check Cable Labeling
- Ensure the cable connected to the node matches the device plan label.
- Example:
Code
UN-1-A-001
must be present on the PoE cable end.
- Verify Cable Seating
- Reseat the PoE cable at both the switch and the node.
- Check Switch PoE Output
- If the switch port PoE LED is off, the switch may not be delivering power.
- Test Another Port
- Move the cable to another PoE port to confirm if the issue is port‑specific.
- Inspect Power to Switch
- If all PoE lights are off, the switch may have lost power.
If the node still does not power on
- Replace the PoE cable.
- Replace the node if cable replacement fails.
- Recommission the device using the software.
3.4 Replacing a Node
- Record Old Node Info
- Note the old node’s SR number before removing it.
- Remove Old Node
- Disconnect PoE cable and take the node out.
- Install New Node
- Mount the new node.
- Record the new SR number.
- Log Into Software
- Open the Settings & Select the configuration area.
- Move to the commissioning module, select the node you want to replace i.e. node name & in the NODE SERIAL SECTION, ADD THE REPLACED i.e. NEW NODE SERIAL NUMBER & just click commission at the bottom.
- Verify Device Status
- Go to Devices.
- Confirm the node shows Online (commissioning successful).
